The world is rapidly changing and the need for technological solutions to address complex problems is ever increasing.
The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted a troubling reality - governments around the world, in both developed and developing societies, lack the capacity to adopt technology solutions which could augment their processes and improve both efficiency and effectiveness. Further, open source and multi-stakeholder innovation is a powerful catalyst to bring those solutions to life.
The Institute for Technology & Global Health at PathCheck Foundation seeks to onboard a select group of fellows with diverse backgrounds across disciplines, whose work intertwines technology, policy, and health. Researchers and practitioners exploring the implications for novel technologies in health on vulnerable populations, their economic impact, legal and regulatory issues, and other questions of importance to society are especially encouraged.
The Institute explores complex issues in development settings and government projects. Fellows will have the opportunity to utilize our network of partners in government, academia, multilaterals, and civil society, in pursuit of their work, use our ongoing projects as a basis for their research or expand on them.
Fellows will benefit from advising and support from faculty and practitioners with experience in the spaces occupied by the Institute’s operations and are expected to contribute to its library of publications and participate in special fellowship events.

Can I apply if I am not a US citizen?
Yes. Applicants from throughout the world are encouraged to apply.
I am an independent scholar and not affiliated with an institution. Am I eligible to apply?
Yes. You do not need to be affiliated with an academic institution to be eligible to apply.
Do I need to physically be in Cambridge to be a fellow?
This fellowship may be done remotely.
I work on technology, public health, policy, or other related fields, but I am not an academic. Am I eligible to apply?
Yes, we are keen to receive applications from a diverse and cross-sector group of applicants, including from human rights organizations, business, technology, and independent think tanks.
Will I receive a stipend if selected as a PathCheck Foundation Fellow?
This is an unpaid fellowship.
What are the typical activities during the fellowship year?
Fellows conduct research for their project, and present their work-in-progress throughout the fellowship year to the Institute’s leadership, faculty, and other experts, either through seminars, individual engagements, or along with their cohort via public lecture.
